Institute for Urban Research and Development (IURD). This site
serves as an informational resource for municipal staff, community
leaders, community-based organizations, instructors, students and
others. The research reports provide valuable information for
community planning, research reports, grant proposals and position
papers. The information is presented in two formats for your
convenience — as a MS Word document or as an Adobe Acrobat PDF
file.
In order to stimulate public policy discussion and information sharing, we
encourage you to e-mail us your comments about and reactions to the
reports found and issues raised on this site. A community bulletin board
is also available to facilitate online discussions and community forums.
Founded in 1996, IURD promotes community development by facilitating the
self-empowerment of people and communities. We advance social, cultural,
economic and political concerns through community-based research, public
policy advocacy, educational activities, non-profit program development
and direct community services. Over the last four years, IURD has
developed and implemented a wide range of programs and services designed
to fulfill community-based strategies to address the needs of
disenfranchised populations.
